On December 5, 2023, ahead of the 25th meeting of the CHFIU in Sanya (People's Republic of China), consultations were held among experts from the Council member states. These consultations were dedicated to the history of developing joint initiatives in strengthening the security of national financial systems.
The Council's experts, as well as those from observer countries, representatives of the Secretariat, and heads of working groups and initiative areas, addressed the following issues:
· The history of the CHFIU’s establishment;
· Key provisions of the founding documents;
· The development dynamics of working group projects;
· New joint areas of activity.
The meeting participants highlighted the importance of holding expert consultations on fundamental issues of the organization's activities. It was also proposed to develop the idea of expanding the format of such events during subsequent CHFIU meetings to acquaint new financial intelligence unit staff with the organization's core operating principles.
