27th Meeting of the CHFIU Held on May 29, 2024

The 27th meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS Member States was held on May 29, 2024.

The participants included representatives from all member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan; observers to the Council's meetings; as well as international organizations and Commonwealth sectoral bodies: the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption, the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring (ITMCFM) and the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG).

Key agenda items included the results of the work of the International Risk Assessment Center (IRAC). The private sector, whose practical experience is of interest to the financial intelligence units, provided insights on the development of regulations concerning the circulation of virtual currencies.

Margarita Andronova, the Director General of the ITMCFM, presented a report on the training center's activities as the core organization of the CIS member states for education in the field of AML/CFT.

Specific issues related to countering the financing of terrorism were discussed during the closed session.

Hope was expressed for the continuation of fruitful joint cooperation within the Council, which will undoubtedly benefit all its members and observers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Yury Chikhanchin presented CHFIU awards for active and efficient work.
